The library is powered totally by volunteer staff. No public money is spent on maintaining the library. It relies on fundraising events to cover its minimal costs, including a share of operating the Church-Orr House and volunteer staff to keep it open. The two events which occur annually are: The Book, Bake, and Plant Sale, which has been held on the second Saturday in June since 2002 – before the library opened – and the Fall Book Sale held on the Saturday of Indigenous Peoples Day weekend in conjunction with VerShare’s Fall Festival. All funds go directly to support the library’s activities, either for buying books or supporting the library’s share of keeping the Church-Orr House open.
